Starting from June 1, the northern Chinese municipality of Tianjin will require employees in the recreational industry to carry real-name identity mag-cards while on duty, a move to improve administration and reduce irregularities. Venues involved include night-clubs, sing and dance clubs, electronic game rooms, bars, disco bars, etc., Tianjin Daily reports. Those working at these places have to bring with them their mag-cards, which are printed with the holders photo, a card number and the issuing date and also contain other personal information. The identity mag-cards will be renewed once a year, to keep all the information valid and up-to-date. If the card holder violates the law, his or her card will be detained or withdrawn. This new management is implemented according to the national Regulations on the Administration of Entertainment Venues (2006), said Liu Wei, head of the municipal entertainment trade association. He said Tianjin has over 700 entertainment venues at present, which employ about 150,000 people. These venues are prone to irregularities and crimes due to the high turn-over rate and the specialty of the industry. |
